Econet says all other prices remain unchanged, but has not stated what the new priced will be.

A recent report by telecommunications regulator Potraz said that Econet’s dominance has continued with its market share  going up to 69,7 percent from 66,3 percent. Telecel marginally up to  8,9 percent from 8,5 while NetOne was down to 21,4 percent from 25,2 percent.

The same report saya ctive mobile phone subscriptions in Zimbabwe have dropped to 12,1 million from 12,9 million between 2018 and 2019, a situation which has been blamed on the tough economic times.

The data show all the three mobile phone companies recorded a slide  in active subscribers during the period, with state owned Net One, at  -20,4 percent having suffered the biggest drop.

Telecel followed at -1,8 percent and Econet at -1,1 percent.

Mobile Phone Penetration refers to the number of SIM cards or mobile phone number in a certain country, it does not refer to the number of mobile phone devices.

This information is represented by the mobile phone penetration rate which shows the number of SIM cards used in a given country. The data is presented as a percentage and can thus exceed 100% if the number of SIM cards in the country is higher than the actual population number.
