ADVOCATE Thabani Mpofu was trapped in the wreckage when his vehicle veered off the road, rolled once and landed on its side while his driver lost consciousness.

This was revealed by MDC president Nelson Chamisa, who often engages Thabani Mpofu as his lawyer.

Chamisa said Mpofu is well and recovering, but sustained injuries to his ribs. There were also bruises and blood from the injuries.

Further details about the accident remain sketchy.

The accident is reported to have happened in Muzarabani, Mashonaland Central province, according to the MDC spokesperson Jacob Mafume.

Mpofu was reportedly travelling from a church event on Saturday afternoon when he got involved in the crash. Mafume also said that Mpofu was in a stable condition.

The MDC family recently lost Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java, its MP for Glen View South constituency, who last week succumbed to an accident she had in Kwekwe on May 12 while on party business.

Mpofu was representing MDC Alliancepresident Nelson Chamisa who was and is still arguing that he won the election. He claimed that the electoral body, Zimbabwe Electoral Commissiontogether with the ruling ZANU-PFtampered with the election results in favour of the ZANU-PF presidential candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa. All the nine Constitutional Court judges voted to dismiss Thabani Mpofu‘s case for lack of evidence. — ZOOMZimbabwe
