December 12 Movement Leader Coltran Chimurenga To Be Buried In Zimbabwe
The body of the late Secretary General of the December 12 Movement, based in the United States of America (USA), Coltran Chimurenga, who passed away a month ago, arrived in the country this evening and was received by the Zanu PF party officials at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Zanu PF Secretary for External Affairs, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi described Chimurenga as a charismatic leader who defended Zimbabwe against all forms of attacks.
“I worked very closely with Cde Chimurenga when I was Zimbabwe’s ambassador to the United Nations and the United Kingdom, where he believed in working with Zimbabwe during hard times,” he said.
The chairperson of the December 12 Movement, Viola Plummer explained how they worked with Chimurenga in the USA.
“We attended a lot of conferences in Zimbabwe to support the liberations movement party, Zanu PF,” she said.
His two sons, Camilo and Amilcar Chimurenga expressed gratitude to have their father buried in Zimbabwe as per his wish.
Meanwhile, the government has honoured the late Chimurenga with a state-assisted funeral and his body has been taken to a local parlour, ahead of burial, at a date to be announced. — ZBC
