Johannesburg – Police have arrested a woman who was travelling in a minibus taxi armed with two guns and also carrying drugs.

This happened on Wednesday morning when Fidelity’s Specialised Response Unit, the Edenvale police and Johannesburg Metro Police Department stopped a Tembisa bound minibus taxi in Edenvale.

It was during the operation that the woman was found with the guns as well as two bags of a substance believed to be Crystal Meth.

Fidelity ADT Community Development Manager, Renee Basson said the woman was immediately arrested by the Edenvale police.

Basson added that police also arrested five undocumented foreign nationals during the operation.

“This is a real coup. We all have a zero tolerance towards illegal drugs and weapons which can so easily find themselves into our community and into the hands of our young people, “ Basson said.

“I hope this sends out a clear message that there will be harsh consequences for these carriers,” she added.
